Pebble E-paper Watch Update

Here's an update about my Pebble watch.

I did eventually receive a reply requesting photos for the RMA. I submitted them and a short time later received an email advising me that the replacement had shipped.

This surprised me because the RMA email advised me that I would receive an email with a shipping label to send the old one back. I never received such a label.

It wasn't long before the tracking advised me that it had been shipped overseas. It sat at customs for a couple of weeks and this week it arrived in my city and at my house at the same day.

I'm pretty happy that I didn't have to spend anything to send the old one back. I wonder if that was because it's a "Kickstarter Edition"? Maybe they thought I'd like to keep it as a souvenir? I don't know.

Regardless, I now have a functional watch and I hope it lasts longer. :)

  1. I had the same problem with my original Kickstarter Edition Pebble. I contacted them to RMA it in June 2013. The replacement came very quickly as yours did. But it is now April 2014 and I've started experiencing the same issues with this replacement. It was on and off the last few months, but lately it's been happening more frequently. I did a factory reset, and there are still artifacts on the screen. I'm going to try RMA'ing it again (yet fully expecting them to tell me I'm SOL as I'm outside of the warranty period).

    1. That's one of my fears... that the replacement will end up the same. I'd be interested to know if they'll let you RMA your second one. It's not a very shining example of the longevity if they die so fast. I know I would never buy one if that's the case, but I'd really miss having one.

    2. I'm on my third pebble with the same problem as yours, my last RMA was a few day after the 1 year warranty and they still honored it.

I've RMA'ed my kickstarter edition (V2R2) before Christmas 2013, received a V3R1 version in replacement, this one started to show the same screen corruption a month after I've begin to use it, and I've just received a replacement V2R2 hope this one is good.

  2. My non-Kickstarter Pebble has also started to have artifacts on the screen; oddly mine only started having this issue after installing Pebble V2. Removing all the applications on the watch sorts this out for me, but then it's not that smart after doing that is it?

    1. That's right around the same time it happened to mine, but removing all apps or resetting to factory did not fix it. :/

    2. Its going back via an RMA so we'll see. I have a Sony SmartWatch 2 I can play with in the meantime.
(They did say I would be receiving a pre-paid label too but since the RMA request I've heard nothing.)

    3. When I submitted for an RMA, I also got the email saying a shipping label would be forthcoming. I never received it. A short time later I got an email saying the replacement had shipped. It took a while for the replacement to arrive, but I never had to send the original back. I thought that perhaps it was because it was a Kickstarter Edition and they were being nice to let me keep it as a souvenir. :)

    4. Hi Scott; looks like I'm getting the same; just received an email stating:

      "Hello Jon Crawford,
Your Pebble smartwatch has shipped! The tracking number is ..."

I wonder how they're making any form of profit here... Can't argue with the customer service!
